I'm kind of hesitant about playing the SNES version as well, because I'm not entirely sure I want my first impressions of the game to be affected by a fan translation that I've heard tends to be a little "exaggerated" and inaccurate in places. But if it's not as good as the other versions, I'm not sure I want to play it first. That, and I can play it on my TV with the Game Boy Player and understand it.

I guess what is so appealing about it to me is that it apparently combines aspects of the original SNES version and the PS1 remake, plus the fact that it's an official translation with English voice. I haven't really heard any specifics as to why it isn't, but if that's really the case, I'm a bit confused about which version I should play first. According to Wikipedia and some posts I've seen on the official Namco Tales forum, this version isn't all that good.

Today I purchased the GBA version and did some reading. I played through a bit of the DeJap ROM back when it was first translated, and imported the PS1 remake for completeness' sake, but still haven't gotten very far. In fact, aside from Tales of Destiny 2 (the JP ToD2, not US Eternia), it's the only one of the series I haven't completed.
